Emma Watson for Harper’s Bazaar // October 2011
I love absolutely everything about this photo…grainy high contrast black and white is totally my bag right now. Plus her posing is fucking spectacular.

In all honesty THIS fucking show has helped me so much when i shoot with models…it sounds totally dumb but just watching the photo shoots on the show i’ve learned so much about what to look for when i sift through 450 frames. A bend of the knee, a head lifted to just the right amount, that fierce look in the face that not too bitchy.

Camera Takes Pictures That Allow For Focus Adjustment AFTER The Photograph Is Taken
Unlike a regular camera, the Lytro Light Field Camera allegedly gathers ALL the light information coming through the lens, allowing a user to manipulate the focus/color of a shot on a computer long after the picture was taken, effectively making it possible to take amazing looking photographs with absolutely zero skill or coordination. *Sits back and waits for the inevitable ‘I AM TEH L337 PHOTOGRAPHER!!!!11’ Facebook albums to start popping up*

Dear Camera Companies,
I understand you want to push technology to the limits to make for the best photographing exexperience. Also you want to make things as consumer friendly as possible to sell as much product as possible. But when everyone can paint a Picasso by pressing a button it diminishes the beauty of an actual Picasso. it also enables people to be uneducated in the “art form” that they undertaking. Yes, there will still be a difference between amateur and professional photographs based on composition and emotion of the photos but by allowing people to feel like they are professional with these advancements you are destroying the respect for actual professionals.
Respectfully,
Mikey P. (half-assed photographer)

quick rant.
So I applied for a freelance photo job trough craigslist today and when i sent the email i had to include my list of equipment. After i sent it all i could think to myself is that i probably won’t get the job because of my meager offerings. Just because of the fact that i’m not a trust fund hipster kid who bought a 7D for a the hell of it and all i really shoot or silhouettey pictures of my impossibly skinny girlfriend in front of the large window of our studio apartment in Los Feliz. But maybe they will take the time to actually look at m portfolio and see the work i can do….maybe.
